Why
Certified
Organic?
Here I am, picking some trametes versicolor for our nourishing serum.

Organic skincare refers to the manner in which ingredients are grown and harvested. In order to be certified as organic, agricultural practices have to be free of pesticides, herbicides, toxic substances, synthetic fertilizers and genetically modified organisms.
Furthermore, organic farming practices create less environmental burden by decreasing pollution, reducing chemical runoff, enhancing energy-efficiency, decreasing soil erosion and protecting biodiversity overall.
Regulation in the skincare industry overall is still lacking, putting consumers at increased health risks due to frequent exposure to harmful additives and chemicals, often found in day-to-day products. This can lead to immediate health impacts, such as skin irritations, while a more hidden danger lies in long-term consequences. Our skin is our largest organ and essential to protect. When we apply harmful products to our skin on a daily basis, this can add up over time, leading to potentially dangerous health issues in the long run.
Organic skincare is thus often healthier for your skin, your overall health and the health of the planet. A trifecta of goodness!

How to know what's really in a product?

We advise you to always check labels carefully and to follow up on claims of organic or clean skincare. As legal protection is often limited, you will find many companies with unsubstantiated declarations. Look for official certifications, such as those awarded by the USDA or COSMOS.
At Raconteuse Skincare, we are USDA organic certified, cruelty-free and vegan, as well as free of palm oil and its derivatives, ensuring your skin stays protected and providing you with lots of natural goodness. We are also free of nasty ingredients, such as artificial fragrances, synthetic dyes or parabens, all of which have been linked to carcinogenic and other damaging properties. We have also explained our ingredients in detail, which you can find here.
Not only is organic skincare cleaner, but sourcing our miracle workers from mother earth also provides us with an abundance of nutrients, antioxidants and vitamins, which are remarkable in keeping our skin looking and feeling amazing.

Here I am, carrying some of our recycled & compostable gift boxes.
Packaging is a large part of our company’s mission to reduce our environmental footprint.
All of our paper packaging is made with eco-friendly inks and coatings, and is recyclable. Both our mailers, as well as our thank you cards, are also compostable. Our thank you cards are made from 100% recycled uncoated paper, while our product cartons are also made from at least 50% recycled paper. Even our safety seals are biodegradable and can be recycled together with the cartons.
Our primary product packaging is made out of recyclable PET plastic, which is designed to be as lightweight as possible, while still securing product stability and safety. This helps to reduce carbon footprint, when transporting the products.
We are actively working on replacing all plastics with biodegradable materials and aim to be plastic-free by late 2025. As our primary goal is to ensure that the quality and safety of your products is in no way compromised, switching to biodegradable material requires extensive testing. As we are working on making this transition, we ask you to please recycle your product bottles and jars. If you have any questions about optimal recycling practices, please do reach out.
As we produce our thank you cards at Noissue, we are part of the Eco Packaging Alliance, underlining our commitment to continuously improve the sustainability of our packaging. For more information, please scan the QR code on the right:

Contemplating new ways to make our global supply chain more sustainable.
How do we decrease
our supply chain
footprint?
We try to minimize supply chain impacts on the environment by implementing organic and ethical ingredient sourcing.
Our products are made and stored in Canada.
We also use electric vehicles for transportation and in agriculture where possible.
As a company that uses paper products, we feel a responsibility to take a step further and contribute to reforestation programs. While we believe that it is essential to avoid unnecessary resource use in the first place, we cannot fully avoid the need for paper products.
Accordingly, we do our best to opt for more sustainable packaging options.
However, we still want to give back a little more, which is why we have decided to partner with One Tree Planted, an environmental non-profit dedicated to global reforestation. For every order, a tree is planted in the Amazon or nearby regions.
While many tree planting programs disrupt local ecosystems and do not plant trees in a sustainable manner, One Tree Planted is different. They approach tree planting projects in a sustainable manner, ensuring a positive impact both on an environmental and a social level.
As we sustainably source some of our beautiful ingredients from the majestic Amazon, we decided to support projects in the region, aiding in conservation and protecting biodiversity.
